OGDEN — Two people whom neighbors hadn’t seen for about a month were found dead inside their home during a welfare check Tuesday night.
The two were found by police inside a house at 840 22nd St. in Ogden.
“At this time there is no indication of foul play and the preliminary investigation revealed that living conditions in the home may have contributed to their deaths,” Ogden police said in a prepared statement.
The identities of the two victims were not immediately released. There were unconfirmed reports that utilities to the house had been shut off.
A neighbor told the Deseret News that they believed the utilities had been shut off for about a year and that a lot of cats were seen going in and out of the house. The neighbor said the house always smelled bad and that neighbors had called code enforcement on them several times. The neighbor said a man and woman lived in the house, but they were very reclusive and if they did leave their house, they would often be seen wearing the same clothes over multiple days.
