Houston Astros hold funeral for Carlos Beltran’s glove

If you don’t use it, you lose it. And if “it” is the glove of Houston Astros veteran Carlos Beltran, you mourn it.

Beltran’s teammates gathered around the outfield at Minute Maid Park to hold a funeral service for Beltran’s outfield mitt, which hasn’t seen action since May 16.

Catcher Brian McCann apparently dressed as a priest and gave the piece of leather a eulogy – something Glove Guru Shigeaki Aso would appreciate.

His glove may have passed, but Beltran’s bat is still alive and well. The 40-year-old is expected to bat sixth on Monday against the Seattle Mariners.
